Q: Why should you clean your gutters?
Answer: Because if you don’t it will cost you a fortune to repair the damages it causes
I realize this is a blanket statement and does not apply to all situations however it does apply to most. This is one of the most overlooked areas in East Tennessee. East Tennessee has a lot of trees and trees have a lot of leaves or needles. Beautiful 75% of the time and a nightmare 10% of the time the other 15% they are a non factor. (you can check these numbers if you like but I certainly did not) The point is, if the gutter becomes clogged multiple problems occur. The most obvious is water cascades over the gutter and falls directly into your French drain which becomes overwhelms and allows water to deteriorate the ground around your foundation, thereby causing weak spots that show up as cracks in your walls. If you have an exceptional drainage system you will still get water behind the gutter which will cause the fascia board and soffit to rot.
By the time you see the damage you are in for some seriously costly repairs so clean your flippin gutters.
